Ship specifications
Here you will find the very useful, and totally accurate, ship specifications. The game manual provided with Frontier failed in its attempt to correctly document various details of the ships in the game. This has been rectified below. Each ship has an 'allegiance', so to speak. Most ships are actually built by independent contractors, but some are built for the Federal or Imperial navies exclusively, according to specifications laid down by the authorities. Such ships include the Asp Explorer and the Imperial Courier. These military vessels are easily the best ships for sale, so you are advised to fly them. The futher away you fly from the core systems, the further the quality of the ships on offer degrades. Poor, anarchic systems such as Riedquat and Leesti will often have old Cobra Mk. Is and Moray Starboats for sale, but rarely anything better.
In the below table, I is Independent, E is Empire and F is Federation.
