Re: The Singularity And Me
Yeah to be fair journalistic standards have been falling steadily our whole lifetimes through! Add to that the scurge of the clickbaits and teases favoured by sub-editors. I remember reading a long and woolly article picking a minor fault in Darwin's (century-old) biology which was very incidental t...

Have I mentioned yet today that Sartre was a fraud? He was to Soviet Communism what Heidegger was to the Nazi party, but in spite of that some (French) nationalism leaked into his mindset from his study of Hegel the arch-nationalist. Hume's use of the comma does not belong in a sentence with the word style - 18th century English is often cumbersome, and he was a popular writer in his day.... All the same I wish this impre...

aicontentisbad.jpg It seems that every time I find something I'm good at, a computer can do it cheaper! Not better. But cheaper. And faster. This happened a few years back with outreach research, and now AI content is taking over the internet too. In fact a lot of groups already are one big circle-...

philosophersrankedbypunkcred.jpg What does everyone think of this? I would dock Marx, and having heard (at second-hand from his biography) that John Stuart Mill was picked up by the 5-0 for distributing birth control literature and taken to the magistrates for obscenity, I'd give him a little bump ...

"One way in which the bar is sometimes set too high for patients who are trying to access assisted suicide is by broadening the scope of decision-making capacity evaluations too far beyond issues of capacity. One example of this is using an inappropriately high standard of ‘stability’ of attitu...
