Sharoma On the Zeitgeist Movement

On the Zeitgeist Movement

Reject All Existing Institutions.

Reliance on existing Internet is dangerous

I think it is important to understand that Facebook and Google are facades of organisations The Zeitgeist Movement is committed to boycotting. Peter Joseph insists on this point in the second film. It's painful to think about, definitely, but wasn't the infamous Goldman Sachs invested in Facebook recently? The Internet kill switch is coming, and recent attempts at metered Internet in Canada (maybe you signed the petition) are just a slow-kill method.

I suggest that regional Zeitgeist Movement Chapters begin to move away from the current model of Internet and establish an independent one by way of privately acquired broadcast radios and physical newsprint. Also it is important to note that many poor families lack Internet access at home. "Internet" does not strictly have to be a computer-based radio wave medium. Distribution of physical newsprint can effectively spread information to achieve short and medium term geographic goals, such as securing local food production and infrastructure. In times of crisis, when all existing communications break down, people will seek a source for news on the outside world. Anyone can type up sheets of paper and photcopy it. Local production and control of our own media and efforts to gain media penetration should fall within the Committee. By communication via Facebook and Google we shall be adhering to certain concepts at the very beginning of the current phase of the Movement, which is awareness, and this includes awareness that existing Internet is at risk, so cannot be relied on anymore to pursue our goals. Recent instruction above Committee Level doesn't exist on whether this is acknowledged. Indeed, there seems to be a lack of direction from above; this isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it allows operational freedom at local chapter level.

Google Bombing

Google bombs are a nice idea, but it's been done for months now. Google is already aware of possible exploitation. Their new algorithms, for all we know, already perhaps make you think they work, when in fact alternative news sites are already being censored.
Think of it like this: A Chinese person searching for 'Zeitgeist Movement' on Google may never know there is a Victoria-based movement. For all they know, Zeitgeist only exists within China. That's where we are heading. Eventually who knows, you may not be able to find out about Nanaimo's chapter from a websearch conducted in Victoria. The established power structure, of which Google and Facebook are arms, will do all they can to suppress an independent movement based on awareness of the true creative spirit of mankind. Either the Movement is already corrupted and directed from above, or it stands alone; if the latter is the case, what better time to use increased numbers to establish a communications structure 100% outside traditional areas?

Physical information is tangible. It requires much more effort to get the information into people's hands. The Internet is a tool of complacency. The current thinking is "Use the Internet", when the Internet itself is centrally controlled and powered using big business infrastructure. Until individuals can work out how to transmit and receive wireless signals outside the realm of the ISP, then we need to fall back on the one thing which remains free: physical newsprint.

City-Wide Thinking

We are the People. We do not need their Internet, their newspapers, their television or cellphones. Avoid entanglement in established media and power structures: this includes all local radio and newspapers, magazines and websites. They will never fail to spin the truth of what the Movement is about to make it more palatable for conservative funding interests. True independence is the only way forward. All previous societal revolutions have been corrupted from the beginning due to a reliance on existing institutions.

Zeitgeist Committees represent a city-wide area. This means thinking on a city-wide scale. The Movement is in the first phase at the moment, that of awareness - but spread awareness not through media channels, or space the local municipality has legal control over such as lamposts, pavements and walls; write it down, and give it to the people, via clear objective language. State what you are doing to end the current slave labour domain sweeping the planet and arriving at our own doors very soon. State that Canada is one of the few remaining countries in the world without an easily detectable police state control grid. State when we meet, how to get there, and that on this date and time each week a newsprint is handed out, explaining the city-wide demand for fresh water, electricity, food production and supply, and healthcare. Refuse to acknowledge existing institutions and establishments. Emphasise that the people of this city/capital regional district can rely only on themselves for food and energy production. All existing institutions look above to the next level, eventually leading to the corruption of state and big business.

Communication without electrical energy

Begin to formulate how the city can function in the short term without traditional cellular phone networks, wireless routers, Internet exchange boxes ("Internet" is already filtered well above consumer level by hardware and software of big business: Rogers, Shaw, Telus), postal service, electricity and landlines.
Acquire & distribute radio sets that can broadcast over the Capital Regional District and the Island clearly and continually. Ally with regional chapters and begin to set up indepedent city-state areas based on land already within the domain of other chapters.

Taking back the Land

If one thousand members of the Zeigest Movement grow vegetables in their garden on the island, across Nanaimo and Victoria areas, what is the total combined area of food production outside official (Provincial, Federal) control? A new collective can be established very easily once existing control breaks down, as it surely will within one to two years. Already the local population of each area should be consumed with providing all requirements and removing themselves from consumer patterns: such as relying on faraway produce and energy acquired through environmental rape (case in point: vast areas of Alberta are being destroyed by the thirst for tar sands derived petroleum products).

Community-based partnership will be the family and societal dynamic once the Venus Project's ideal is implemented, and I ask, is not the Movement actually an arm of the Venus Project? But here too I have my own questions regarding the true alliance and intention of the Venus Project. Their claims of full mechanisation of labour associate in my mind with the mass population reduction suggested by certain elements of the existing power structure.

In Summary

Prepare for total shutdown of all the communiciations: postal, electrical, landlines, cell phones, local wireless Internet, personal wireless Internet, private courier distribution, private car communication (highways on the island are already designated emergency zones in current legislation). The emphasis at this stage ought to be on local area survival.

We all agree current systems are bad. We all see they are failing. They will have failed within a year. Once they do, people in each community will look to the wider world via what? A broadcast radio. The person who has one in each neighborhood block already in place will be the source of news for that area. If a food supply network, planned to deal with high growth in numbers, is already in place, then partnership and prosperity will follow outside existing systems. There is a unique opportunity for the Movement to recognise the situation ahead and prepare for it. If no other form of collective is in place, or has assumed everything we previously knew would fall apart, then people will turn to whoever is most organised in areas of food, energy and information production and distribution.
