Thompson Twins

Intro

This is my Thompson Twins site, which contains a collection of discography pages detailing the Thompson Twins material I own or have created. Everything from official album releases, bootlegs, DVDs and videos, to custom compilations with rarities & remixes, and live recordings. Details on some of the many dubious Thompson Twins compilations are also included, as well as information on the two Babble albums. This site is not written as a replacement for some of the more excellent ones that have passed into history, such as the 'Unofficial page' by Blake Bell or the wonderfully aesthetic Passion Planet site (links to these can be found below). Nevertheless, I hope it's an enjoyable read; your kind comments and constructive criticisms are always welcomed.

Reissues

Into The Gap's problematic disc two has been officially replaced. If you have a version with poor sound quality, Edsel Records will mail you a replacement disc for free. Just get in contact with them.

Reissues of Quick Step & Side Kick, Into The Gap and Here's To Future Days complete with the extended remixes found on the original cassettes and (almost) all the related bonus tracks are being released throughout 2008.

Items of interest

Freebie

I have a surplus, sealed copy of the Queer album to give away to anyone who doesn't have one. It's the last album released under the Thompson Twins name and is a stepping stone to the sound of Babble. A great crossover of pop sensibilities and ambient/techno rhythms. Anyway, if you want it, contact me. It's totally free, and I'll even pay for postage.

Update: The free copy of Queer is no longer available. Daniel from Peru took up this offer.

Family Guy

Despite their slide into pop music obscurity, they crop up in modern culture quite a bit. Mostly as a joke. An example is this still from the ever popular show Family Guy: 'Thompson Twins Rule'.

Acquiring

Most commercial music stores in Europe and North America will only carry the in-print Twins releases (and therefore they won't have any Babble). This is most likely to be, varying from country to country, Greatest Hits packages, and maybe the 2004 reissue of Quick Step And Side Kick. Your best bet for acquiring their older material is of course your country's version of eBay, where I acquired a lot of mine. Also, always keep an eye out for old TT CDs buried away in bargain bins. I recently found three copies of Queer for $2 each, and one of Close To The Bone. If you look hard enough you'll find something. TT LPs are especially prevalent in dusty old record racks!

Mailing lists & groups

There are two active Thompson Twins and Babble groups: 'Big Trash' and 'Love on your Side'.

Other web sites

Sadly the online presence of the 'Twins and Babble is sorely lacking. However, in bygone days there were a handful of excellent sites. These, along with archived versions, are listed below:
