Forums
The Clash and Strummer forums are back. This is the place to talk with other Clash fans about anything and everything. You can also find many people also after rare material so it's probably the best place to set up a trade. Visit it at: http://clashcity.com/boards/.
Acquiring
I can rip any items you require to FLAC (see below) and burn them as data to a blank DVD+R disc. There is no artwork, just a copy of the audio data I have. The price is $5 US per disc and FLAC will compress a full audio CD down to approximately half its size, so you can fit over ten shows to a single disc. Postage anywhere in the world is included in the price; payment is for my time and the cost of buying blanks. Example: you wish to have a copy of five single CD items and two double CD items. That will fill around three gigabytes of a data disc and will cost $45 US. There's no need to e-mail me beforehand. Just PayPal all requests to robin.sharrock@sharoma.com along with your postal address and your chosen shows will be on their way within a few hours.
What is FLAC?
I only rip in the FLAC format, since it is lossless and saves space in comparison to audio CD copies. When used in combination with blank data DVDs it is a very efficient way to propagate rare Clash material. FLAC stands for "free lossless audio codec". The data is compressed but without any loss in audio quality. This data can then be easily converted back to wave files for burning of an audio CD which will be bit-for-bit indentical to the original. The excellent Foobar media player will easily convert FLAC files back to wave files.
